You know, I thought you'd have to beat me with a lead pipe and drag me chained and screaming to the speakers to get me to listen to a Peter Gabriel album ...
But I am loving "Scratch My Back" Image
(but then I also really like the Cowboy Junkies, Leonard Cohen, and Susanna and the Magical Orchestra)
Give it a listen.
Cheers

Wow that's an endorsement for sure. I'm curious why you don't like some of Mr. Gabriel's work in the past.
I think I have all of his stuff and a huge fan.

I'll have to add this to my collection right away

I don't know why I haven't been able to get into his earlier stuff - it's just left me cold for some reason ... I'll keep trying.

At this very moment it's Suzy Bogguss . . . love her voice.

On deck is a group called Ensembe Galilei. It's something I picked up a decade ago . . .but it's still in rotation. Classic meets celtic maybe, nice album, er, cd. Nice to wind down with.

Sidsel Endresen and Bugge Wesseltoft "Her Ute Der Inne" ("Out There, In Here") - Norwegian avant-garde music with an electronic / vocal feel.
Not to everyone's taste, but I like it ...
... and Diesel likes it too!

I just "discovered" Cowboy Junkies last year. While I started off with the most popular "Trinity Sessions", I really, really enjoy their first LP, "Whites off Earth Now" - great covers of blues songs. Probably my most played LP the last 6 months. What other CW albums would you recommend?

Gabriel covers so much musical territory it's tough to pigeon hole him into a set sound. There is his early rock stuff and his ventures into world music. I did finally listen to "Passion" a few weeks ago and really like it.

Pinata Protest is a band that played at the SXSW 2010 music festival in San Antonio. I'm listening to their new CD "Plethora". They are a Tejano/Punk fusion that is much, much more listenable than one might imagine at first consideration. Perhaps it's because I'm a big time punk rock fan from the hardcore scene in California from 1981 to 1984 AND I now live in Texas and Mariachi bands are what we listen to live more than anything else...like last Sunday at the lake house marina we had a two trumpet five piece Mariachi band playing live all afternoon. Love those horns! Just saying I may be the one guy predisposed to this fusion. Whatever. Great stuff here...
