Let's talk about the music we love.

Jack Johnson - Sounds like John Mayer

I like this guy. I'd not heard of him until today. Any of you heard him?
He's got a good clean sound. Nothing rushed, very relaxed. Nice thumpy, yet tactful, bass. Acoustic guitar, clean percussion, great vocal and a fantastic story teller...

Yea..... 8)

Preview some tunes on Amazon, particularly an album called "On and On".

Hey Bob,
Yep, I have a few of his releases. His stuff is well recorded IMO; nice close micing on some cuts make it very intimate sounding.

That said, I rarely listen to him anymore. I'm not exactly sure why, but maybe he's a little middle-road for my taste. Chicks dig him though! B_Y3P!

His drummer is really fond of rim shots.

Hi Bob,
My youngest son turned us on to him a few years back and I really didn't give him a listen until about 3 months ago. Then the wife was in the listening room and went bonkers about him. He is the most requested now
I don't have a CD just FLAC files. I plan to invest in Vinyl and CD's of his music....yes it is that good
Oh and once you get into him you have to see the "Jack Johnson Mellow Shack" sketches on SNL O"-"

Bob:

If you want some more of him but don't quite want to buy anything yet, try this http://www.archive.org/details/audio

There are a number of Jack Johnson downloads under "Open Source Audio" and Live recordings in various recording quality, MP3 at various bit rates, Ogg Vorbis, VBR, Flac. You can search by recording quality, Artist, genre. If you are a Grateful Dead fan, there are thousands of live concerts recorded and archived here. All of these can be downloaded and recorded to CD, sent to your Ipod or streamed to your Squeezebox, etc.. Remember, check out the "Open Source Audio" and "Live Music Archive". You'll be surprised at how many names you will recognize and how good a lot of the recordings are.

Harold :)

I second the recommendation for that site -- There are some great downloads available
there for the higher rez inclined. Look for a Radiators show from Austin. Just great.
Lot's of poorly recorded great performances and vice versa. Worth
the effort searching for the good ones though. Ultimately, I'm sure I will buy
more music because of this site.
