Lone Star Audio Fest 2010

Postby FredT300B » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:51 am

We're looking for a Hawthorne Audio owner to host an exhibit room at the 2010 LSAF in Dallas. Brad Baker was the Hawthorne guy at past shows, but he has fallen off the radar, and as far as we know he won't be attending this year. That's too bad, because Brad's speakers sounded especially good, and for many visitors the LSAF was their first Silver Iris experience.

The LSAF is unlike any other show we know about. It's actually a mutual agreement of several exhibitors, both commercial and diy, to meet at a hotel on a specified weekend to exhibit the audio gear they'er proud of. There's no charge for exhibitors or visitors, and the only cost is gas to get there, food, and the $99/nite discounted price of a two-room suite. All you have to do to exhibit is to notify us you're coming, show up, set up, and exhibit. Because it's a two-room suite there's no need to move beds, etc., and you can sleep in your exhibit room's bedroom while exhibiting in the front room. What could be simpler?

Here's a link to the LSAF web page. The exhbitors' list is currently being updated, and we would very much like to keep Hawthorne Audio on it: http://www.lonestaraudiofest.com/

Here's the link to a LSAF Audio Circle page I'm moderating, which includes a sticky with instructions for exhibitors:
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=171.0

The LSAF is a fun weekend for exhibitors and visitors, and it's a good fit for smaller low-profile companies like Hawthorne Audio that don't have mega advertising budgets. Please, somebody volunteer to join us with Hawthorne products. The show planners will be grateful and so will Darrel.

Hey Fred,

I haven't been online for quite a while B_~!@ (audio-wise anyway), but I think I'll still make it to LSAF this year.
It's a fun time and a good group of people.

Hope to see you there.

Brad, it's good to hear from you. I hope you'll be able to join us. The list of exhibitors is growing, and I hope you'll be there with your Hawthorne Audio speakers.

I made a last minute amp change for the show this year - took the tubes out of the system B_GAh!

Not in the preamp of course.....but I changed the amp to a Red Wine Audio 30.2
It worked out great for the show. I think the Hawthornes sounded the best they have in the 4 years I've been hauling them up to Dallas for the LSAF.

Great show - saw lots of old friends and met some new ones. Good music, cold beer, audio gear..... =D> =D>

BTW, fellow Hawthorne owner Barry (from New Jersey) made it back to this year's show.
\:D/ B_OOO|)))

Somehow I always manage to scare him out of the room when it's time to play some rock and roll.

This was my fourth year at LSAF.
The first year, I think I was the only one with Open Baffle.
This year, a pretty significant percentage was OB :-"

I wonder if that Darrel guy is onto something :-k

Well, in my own defense, I had a splitting headache most of the weekend. It really made it hard to audition gear. But even without the headache Brad has been known to drive sane folks from his room running madly into the night.

It was a good show. There were lots of good rooms this year and everyone went out of their way being nice. As always.

And there *were* a lot of open baffle speakers this year. John Busch had another one of his crazy DIY projects that sounded great and Dannie Richie had two of his commercial DIY offerings at the show, too. It was a great time. \:D/
